McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base sits just south of Knoxville, near Alcoa — home to the 134th Air Refueling Wing of the Tennessee Air National Guard. The wing has been based at McGhee Tyson since 1957, so you're joining a community with deep military roots and a long history of supporting the families who serve.

A Base with a Bright Future

The U.S. Air Force selected McGhee Tyson and the 134th Air Refueling Wing to be the seventh main operating base for the KC-46 Pegasus. The base is receiving eight KC-46A aircraft, which will replace the wing's legacy KC-135 Stratotankers, with delivery expected by 2031. Leaders have called it a transformational moment for the wing and the state — one that secures more than 1,500 jobs and protects over $200 million annually for the local economy.
